Show Me The Evidence...

<"Even when well-shielded, a week in space will shorten your life expectancy by about a day."

As you like to say Donnie, Show me the proof... I find that statement downright silly...

The radiation levels we are speaking about are not unlike levels experienced by occupational radiation workers and there is NO (Absolutely NONE) evidence that small chronic exposures to ionizing radiation has any adverse health effects.. In fact, there have been studies that suggest that small chronic exposures to radiation may in fact have health benefits. Please note we are only talking primarly about gamma rays since the steel hull of the spacecraft will easily block out alpha and beta rays...

Occupational radiation workers in the US (Of which I was one for several years in the 1980's) have implemented safety programs such as ALARA and TDS... And there is no evidence (Again NONE) that their annual does exposes then to any greater risk than those exposed to natural background radiation... As a matter of fact Don, I believe that if you investigate that matter you will find that those working in the Chemical Industy and Heavy Construction are at a much greater risk than Occupational Radiation Workers.

The radiation dragon that you speak of is just that, a dragon. You've been listening to Jane Fonda too much...
