<I don't recall ever hearing about a case where a teacher was caught preaching Marxism in an American classroom. Are there really cases of this?
This is such an odd statement, that you must be misinterpreting me. I am talking primarily about universities. Are you talking about grade schools? Angela Davis holds a faculty position right down the road at UCSC, and if you think she isn't pushing Marxism, you must know a different Angela Davis.
Universities are one of the few places where a socialist/collectivist can stand up and say, "yes, I'm a Marxist. What's it to you?" Most other places, people with such beliefs wrap them in more palatable terms, although the poison is still there.
So if you broaden your definition to include socialists and the current favorite pseudonym, "progressives," it gets pretty easy to locate such teachers. If you then include the milder and more moderate leftists and liberals, you wind up with about 94 percent of the faculty.
Try and find a conservative professor at a university sometime.
