re: 21 and counting

Nothing in "Atlas Shrugged" says anything about it being wrong to care for others. Anyone with a brain reading the novel would realize that most of the main characters care a great deal for each other.

Ayn Rand was generous in real life, sending food and money to friends stranded in postwar Europe, assistance to her sister Nora, and help for others she knew.

That being said, there were a lot of things Ayn Rand didn't know. One is what it's like to be a parent.

Raising a family is a serious commitment, and one often has to postpone personal desires on behalf of your children. You are in an unusual situation...you don't say whether the kids are yours or your brothers and sisters, but assuming the latter, you are in a tough spot through no real choice or fault of your own. You should be commended for helping the family out when you really don't have a chosen obligation to.

Take it a day at a time. Education can be stretched out somewhat if necessary, as can other goals. There is no reason you can't eventually accomplish what you want to do in life.
