I'm NOT going to let the "imposition of ideology at gunpoint" canard slide past yet again. It is not accurate.
We are no more "imposing" freedom on the Iraqi people at gunpoint than a police sniper, blowing the head off a criminal holding a woman hostage, is "imposing" safety and liberty on the woman.
If you read Rand at all, you know that a person violating the rights of others loses his privilege of not having his own violated. It is not "coercion" to stop a criminal by force. Saddam long ago lost any right to immunity from being usurped by more civilized nations.
The United States, regardless of the babbling of the anti-globalization crowd, does not "impose" its culture on other nations. People choose it freely. It's the leaders, political and/or spiritual, of other nations that get pissed at America when people want something other than whatever oppressive society the leaders favor.
I have yet to see a McDonalds brought into a city with tanks and troops. Can as much be said for the communist system?
This is probably one reason the Left hates America and capitalism so much. Given freedom to choose, most people on Earth choose prosperity and liberty, instead of the Left's glorious collectivism. The latter, ironically, has almost always been imposed on people and nations at gunpoint.
