re: Yer missing my points here Tom

"Ohh, theres some intellect for you. I say some warfare is moral and you echo back to me that I said all warfare is immoral."

Obviously, I have to make this clearer for you. Define what Davin means when he says: "fighting for survival".

Further clarification-
Example:
A soldier CAN avoid a war [in various ways that result in his life not being in danger- but perhaps one option is he will spend some time in prison] so that he doesn't later find myself in a situation in which he must kill in order to survive. Is this a moral decision?

Obviously, this kind of question depends on specific circumstances- and you can write entire books on these circumstances. Therefore you can easily duck the question and since you usually duck these questions, I'll frame it in general terms [to make it slightly harder to duck]. "On average" are soldiers that take actions to avoid war so they aren't placed in the position of having to kill, doing something moral. "On average" are soldiers that willing to go to war and as result kill the enemy, doing something moral.

"Fighting for survival" could be quite broad in scope or it could be very narrow. It seemed to me that you were using in a narrow sense.
As far as the "echo", I missed the part where you said "some warfare is moral". Unless by warfare you are implying that people are unable to make deliberate decisions, but instead merely "find" themselves in the middle of some firefight, fighting for survival. Therefore we get the strange (but fairly common) idea that accidents & being surprised is good, and planning or deliberately doing anything is bad. Cluelessness = good [moral] and information & knowledge = bad [immoral]. Which also translates to Responsiblity = Bad and Irresponsiblity = Good. And translating to blamelessness is the ideal state of being. Finally, making having your head up your butt as an ideal position.

Btw, I disagree with Tom when he says defining an indivdual is simple, but I don't agree with how you define an individual. And this is related to my questioning of what you mean by "fighting for survival".
