You mentioned that socialism can get things done but not as well without the brilliant people. That's well and fine. But think about it for a minute: all the second-handers are using products to get along that were created by the brilliant. Of course there are flukes like post-it notes (which were made by accident) but most inventions required a spark of productive genius. Do you think that people living under socialism would bother to create? However, I do agree with you as far as a mixture works the best. It might not be the best in all situations, and there are people that are definitely not happy all the time, but this mixed system has worked well for a long time. You talk of things on such a large scale. My interest in objectivism is purely personal. I feel the ideals will help me to live the most promising, productive life possible. However, I like the fact that I live in country that allows for people to think exactly what they want without fear. I like the feeling of being right, but wouldn't it be boring if everything could be argued into definitive truths? That's fine for math, but I think it would make for a poor life. You've told me ad nauseum your views on politics. Now what I'm interested in is your personal views. What do believe is the key to life worth living? And on a more political scale, what would your utopia look like? I'm interested in your response because I've enjoyed what you've written even though I didn't agree with everything you wrote.
