Maybe you wouldn't let terrorism influence your vote--in fact I'd be surprised if you did--although I do see people here whose opinions of the President seem to be heavily influenced by things like insurgent attacks and American casualties, something the insurgents are well aware of.
What really matters is what the people smuggling explosives into America think, and if they believe, rightly or wrongly, that they can influence the election based on their perception of what happened in Spain, that's the real problem.
