I do learn stuff. And I will admit my mistakes. But what I said was correct: "It wasn't American foreign policy to support the establishment of a Jewish state, we have been dragged into this situation- we generally have a tendency to be dragged into these types of situations."

Though American Jews did have an important role in the establishment of the Jewish State- they raised money & they went over there. And they managed to convince Truman to use the UN as a means of legalizing Israel status [though the "legal history" started before the UN- League Nations and the British Balfour Declaration].
For instance, as far as I know it wasn't like what we did in China to fight the Japanese. It wasn't a situation, where we were against the idea of Japan invading China [but didn't want to go to war with Japan], and people in the America govt helped to arrange America citizens to go over there fly combat airplanes against Japan- Flying Tigers. It wasn't some US covert operation. It might have been a French govt effort- they used French weapons, and later French fighter jets- I don't know much about this.
Though after 1967 it did become part of US policy and there seems to be a lot of CIA type connection- I wouldn't surprise me a bit if a lot of this decades old information which was still classified. I nothing would make me happier than to declassify this stuff- but I would imagine this would be strongly opposed by the CIA. And in current political environment, the CIA would "seem" to have strong case to keep this classified.
