re: That's entirely possible

We need to exert real pressure on Israel to find a way to peacerfully co-exist (and not by the peace of the graveyard). I cannot, will not beleive that Palestinians have offered their children up as human bombs simply because they wanted to. While perhaps there are some extremists who cannot be negotiated with, I have to beleive that the vast majority of Palestinians just want to get on with theirs lives, as we do. Many may hate American policy...and those are exactly the ones we have to begin a sincere dialogue with, and we have to be prepared to take their interests to heart, and to change our foreign policy to address their concerns.

In polls of Palestinians, over half think Israel should be eliminated, not simply shoved back out of the West Bank and Gaza. Even before the Intifada, this number was 44 percent.

In any case, as long as their leadership is a bunch of terrorists, I don't see a lot of change happening. Yasser Arafat is the one variable in this process that has not changed in decades.

Look, your heart is in the right place. But you have to realize that sometimes there are just people who want to see you and everything you love destroyed. The Arab translations from the Palestinian radicals don't talk about Zionists. They talk about Jews. And not just in Israel. Osama bin Laden sees everyone who does not fit his mold of Islam as "infidels." That includes every last person on this board.

Does it matter what the motivation is for wrapping dynamite and shrapnel around your own child and sending him off to kill other children? Is any excuse any human being can possibly formulate sufficient to do something like this?

There were almost certainly Jews in Nazi Germany who were still wondering "why me?" when the Zyklon was pouring into the chambers.
