Acknowledging the legitimate grievances of others would be a good start. Reform and strengthen the United Nations, give the International Criminal Court worldwide jusidiction, allow the majorities in other countries to choose their own form of government.
Conservatives have a childlike belief that violence will solve security problems, both foreign and domestic. If we can just kill enough people, or lock up enough criminals -- problems solved. Unfortunately, the real world doesn't work that way.
