Oh, but it does.

It matters what we all think.

I don't want to die. Well, I don't want to be murdered. Death is something of a given on this planet.

When my daughter took the train back to school this weekend, changing trains at Penn Station, I was very nervous. Given a choice between her and me, I'd pick me, and not because I'm brave. She said, "I'll sit in the middle of the train, Mom. I'll keep my eyes open, but I'm gonna live my life." I couldn't argue: that's what they've all been taught.

Terrorists are not political activists. They are criminals. The instant we let criminals determine our agendas for us, they have won. That's what they want: control. If we give it to them because we're afraid, no matter what the issue, then it's all over.

You say that people should vote for candidates because the terrorists would not want us to. What kind of knee-jerk voting is that??

Our lives are valuable, but that's all they can take from us. We have to give them our freedom ourselves, with our own hands. Our freedom includes the freedom to choose to prosecute crime rather than to wage war. If I allow myself to be cowed into voting for a candidate that I find totally unacceptable for many reasons unconnected to terrorism because I am afraid of terrorists, then I have done my part to deliver this nation into the hands of a bunch of criminals.
