So We Are Talking About A Major Global Chill Event?

At 20 times MN4 impact energy we should be above the level of a 1 km impactor implying global scale effects on climate. I knew a major yellowstone eruption would devastate the western US but didn't realize it would be a global catastrophy. Given the historical intervals this is roughly equivalent to the danger we face from a 1 km impactor as well. I thought the threat of impactors passed that of volcanoes at a lower time averaged fatality level.

I guess I prefer the hurricanes of the east to the earthquakes and volcanoes of the west even after last summer. Higher frequency, but more predictable and lower maximum damage.

Mark
