I'll try and remember that when people demand that I define "leftist" down to the molecular level, or insist that because they don't have everything in common with a socialist, therefore they have nothing in common.

To call Guantanamo a "gulag" is to poison the memory and description of the real gulags, which had a record hundreds of times worse than Guantanamo. For that matter, conditions in Guantanamo probably exceed those of ninety percent of civilian prisons on the planet.

It only adds to the irony that some of those now trumpeting the Guantanamo abuses used to spend much of their time as apologists for the Soviet Union, and kissing the hind end of every Soviet-backed takeover movement across the planet.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Higher standards and all that. So we can exclusively crap on the U.S., and ignore everyone else because nobody expects any better of them.
