Guantanamo is not a gulag, Mary Anne, it's that simple
Considering the history of gulags, I find it equally interesting you don't find such a characterisation objectionable.
If I was an American, I'd certainly be concerned about reported abuses at Guantanamo. I'd save my outrage for America's overall penal system that has incarcerated tens of thousands of non-violent citizens for smoking pot or the millions doomed to a living death in the world's largest "gulag", North Korea. It's called "keeping perspective".
Well, that's about all I have to say. You don't think Bolton is appropriate. I don't think "gulag" is appropriate. Are we even? :-)
