So you are adhering to the spontaneuopus generation theory- people just 'showed up' there on the way to the superdome and stayed for the ambiance?
As the articles I linked to said, the convention center people were there for two reasons: overflow from the Astrodome--most of them--and people who were taken there to wait for transport out that never showed up.
The convention center is located on the banks of the river on either side of the main highway that crosses the river heading east.
People heading away from the Superdome couldn't leave. The Crescent City Connection was blocked off by police from the Jefferson County area across the street. It was a bottleneck with a large set of buildings nearby, and there were people there already waiting for buses.
(the Superdome is in the orange bit at the upper left.)
I notice you don't seem to give a rat's ass about the state of knowledge of local FEMA authorities, how they were dealing with Red Cross supplies, or anything other than your obsession with the Bush administration.
I'm hoping that if anyone else is reading any of this, that at least they have picked up something from it.
