Okay, so according to yout:
1) Everyone that was trucked there was trucked there at the behest of 'private' parties, with no offical connections- despite sources that I have posted here saying otherwise. Despite the police bringing people there for evacuation.
2) The thousands of people who showed up there just 'dropped in' on the way to the superdome, nobody told them. They stayed for the abience or maybe the food.
3) That even though it was widely publicized before the 1st, as I have sourced here, it wasn't publicized widely enough, or LOUD enough, or in the right words or degree for FEMA to take notice. (implying of course that they need a media firestorm to do their relief job)
4) That anyone who simply points out the absolute incomprehensible stupidity of this whole thing is 'ignoring' the sins of the loacal authorites because they, somehow, don't work 'nagin' and 'blanco' into a discussion of what FEMA should have known and when, and into every sentence.
This is just stupid
"Most of this hype has fallen apart, and you're still hanging on to it like a dog with a bone. You keep saying that you insist there's failure at all levels. So why are you ignoring those failures? Especially when some of them negated the Federal and private relief efforts?"
No, it has not fallen apart, nor is it Hype. Even Republican Congressmen were hammering Brown on it yesterday, if I recall. The facts in this are self evident. The Federal relief agency couldn't even find out what was there to relieve, just 8 blocks away from what should have been the center of their efforts (the superdome), and couldn't find it out for several days after they should have figured it out.
The only dog with a bone here is you. You are the one who, when faced with facts, have retreated to subjectives, who are insisting on us believing things that are inconsistent with basic principles of reason (ockams razor, for one).
I have detailed Nagins and Blancos combined failures before: Failure to evacuate better and earlier, failure to provide transportation for the poor, failure to provide shelters outside of NOLA for people to be evacuated TO. I've never denied that nagin and Blanco have some explaining to do.
But you, on the other hand, will bend whatever you have to bend to make a case against any responsibility being laid at the feet of ANY part of the executive. And only the executive. I think its clear who is spinning like a top.
So I am done here. I think everyone can see who the hack is here. You have never answered my question, asked several times in several ways. You have never told me what in specific excuses FEMA from knowing about the Convention Center for several days. You have proposed outright fantastical explanations for why people were at the Convention Center, that contradict published information from multiple sources. You have proposed mind-numbing epicycles that argue that NOBODY knew people were there, maybe not even the people who themselves were there (aka: the Night of the Living Dead theory). You have insisted that media reports don't exist when they do, and then tried to slide off on subjectives like 'not urgent enough' or 'not the right words/phrases'. You yourself point out that the Convention Center is right down the road from the superdome, but somehow don't make the connection that FEMA should therefore be able to put two-and-two together.
You have done all of these things- but you have not actually told me specifically- why is it that its excusable and acceptable that FEMA not know for days after the fact where thousands upon thousands of people were waiting for relief?
I suspect that you probably have tried to type out a succinct answer half a dozen times, but look at it and erase it, because as silly as quibbling over the facts is- it looks better than any excuse you can come up with.
But thats what I suspect.
So I'm done. Ta-Ta.
