Sure their greedy...

But what do you think they are going to do with all that new found wealth? the answer is that they will turn around and re-invest it in the economy, new ventures, or in paying some poor union smucks to install the marble floor in thier baby's new nursery.

If you think owning an oil company is so profitable put some capital at risk and buy some oil stocks...You too can be a greedy capitalist...

Now with that said, is management overpaid? Hell yes*!!!

Unfortunatly though, that is corporate America...So again I say, put your money where your mouth is and buy some stocks...Then go to the shareholders meetings and demand that the Board of Directors hold management accountable, and 1st and formost, stop dealing out golden parachutes to managers so that even those who perform poorly get paid ridiculouly high salaries for their lackluster efforts.

*management salaries are insanely high...I have no problem paying management big $$$ when they perform, but they should get axed and handed butkis when they don't perform; otherwise, they should be willing to settle for more reasonable (ie lower) overall compenation packages.

Golden parachutes should be taxed out of existence. They reward only bad managers...corporate Boards of Directors have been alseep at the wheel and dealing out ridiculous salary increases for incompetent management teams...

The SEC, AICPA, and other bodies should demand better accounting for ESOPs, separation compensation, and other hidden costs associated with over-paid management staffs.

Compensation is being used for off-balance sheet financing of overpriced Management teams, and that is a recipie for eventual disaster as the true compensation costs often become apparent only when a bad management team is terminated.
