Americans, with little contact with other cultures, foreign or domestic, are prone to think that the superstitions of their tribe are the laws of physics.
Children need to be taught early that insisting on intruding into another's environment (except, of course, in a valid emergency) is rude and selfish behavior, comparable to causing a public disturbance or abusing other's property. At the very least, it's bad manners. They also should be taught that behavior in public places demands much higher standards than it does at home.
The behavior of children I have witnessed on the street or in stores, etc., leads me to believe that it is common to spoil them rotten based on mistaken ideas about childhood freedom, spontaneity, and the rest of that psychiatric pseudoscience; and leads to selfish whining adults who always insist on getting their way no matter who they annoy or intrude on.
Apparently many conservative zoners had parents that did not follow Cuban child-rearing practices.
