When someone proposes a mandated program, and also proposes outlawing all competition, every alarm bell in the house should go off.
Advocates of nationalized health care constantly tell us what a great thing it will be. Any rational person would assume that citizens and businesses would readily abandon their expensive insurance programs to sign up. So what are they afraid of?
It's clear that the prohibition of competing private insurances is meant to prevent those other plans from sucking away resources and support.
What "resources" are those? My own money? Are they that scared of losing support? I assume companies and individuals will have to pay the Health Tax whether or not they pay for private insurance. What's the problem?
We see a similar phenomenon in the school voucher controversy, or privatized retirement concepts. Which side fears competition? Note that people send their kids to private schools even though they still have to pay the taxes for public ones.
If public health care is as attractive and low-cost as it's painted to be, there should be no need to force people into it.
"Pro-choice" my hind end.
