Thanks, Mary Anne

I was too lazy to do more than a one-liner.
Eloquent and precise as ever.
(Do you ever get fed up at being the most widely praised individual on the board?)

Fair-skinned and blue-eyed people had an advantage in the low-light Antipodes because of the ability to absorb more sunlight to metabolize Vitamin D. Now, though, with the ozone question, the fair are at greater risk than ever for aggressive forms of skin cancer. The positive benefits are not as positive as before.

That may really worry some on the board (ooh, even more subtle than SDAI........).

Warfare, as Lee points out, has been killing off the brave and strong in disproportionate numbers for a while. I would stipulate that this observation has only been valid on a broad scale since about the middle of the 19th century, though.

I would suggest that throughout the ages, war kills off the poor more disproportionately than other social groups.
Most poor people down the ages did not have means to avoid being told by their brave and strong masters to go off and fight. Or, they joined up for military duty because the pay was better than working on the homestead.

Cheers,
Tony
