I think it's authentic.
The Iraqi blogger Raed has been scrutinized a great deal by people on the Net, and later hired by the Guardian to do articles. Enough people have pronounced him genuine for my satisfaction.
He refer to Riverbend as a real person in Iraq, and even argues with her. Unless I see some new evidence otherwise, that's enough proof for me for now.
