Reading between the lines??

You accuse me of having to read between the lines, and then spend much of the rest of the post justifying Saddam's regime in the same way I was condemning, trying to convince me that freedom is less important than new hospitals, schools and infrastructure. For some of the population, of course. As for the Kurds, Marsh Arabs, and the rest, I suppose the well-off in Baghdad could care less about what happens to a bunch of ethnics out in the sticks somewhere. All the mass graves were well out of sight.

You guys are starting to make me ill. It was all right when you were talking about what America did wrong, but cheerleading for Saddam is going over the edge.

BTW, damn few people in America live in "inescapable" poverty, despite the best attempts of the Left to cultivate poverty as a political weapon. And believe me, I heard this same crap years ago when socialist apologists dismissed the Gulags and killing fields, pointing out that, hey, America had poor people.
