RE: open question

But here's a open question to chew on: How is posting anomalism for all to deride and mock different from posting it because you believe in it? Yes, I saw that you moved that thread to Flame, where it probably belonged originally... but a strict interpretation of this board's "credo" on the splash page might say it doesn't belong anywhere.

I would think anomolism could be talked about on off-topic. It is off-topic afterall. I think the point to the credo is keep if off of Space/Science. I don't understand why it needs to go to Flame, when Off-topic is perfectly suitable. Unless it is a preemptory strike by the moderators, since they know what type of discussion will ensue. However think about this for a minute, by damning a message to Flame immediatly never gives the community a chance to discuss it in any other tone. Hence the preemptory strike just turned into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

With the understanding that this community was built on a foundation of anti-anomolism, I could understand not wanting it anywhere, though it makes me a bit uncomfortable not having a box to put it in. It was my understanding that since Space is the flagship board, the other boards serve to keep the Space board pure of anything else be it flames, politics, salutations, etc.

I would prefer no topic be banned from all boards, just certain boards. If Lindy wants to post about chemtrails and ufos on off-topic, then I would vote to allow her that freedom. I realize this could possibly open up off-topic to all kinds anomolistic postings of distate to the majority of HZ members.

Now the caveat: This board does not need to meet all the needs of all people, and Robert and Justin do not have an endless supply of time and resources. Robert and Justin have ultimate control of what gets posted, and since it is their time and resources in the mix they should have absolute veto power in this discussion.

PS I seem to recall a discussion about crop circles on Off-Topic (initiated by Robert if I recall correctly) many months ago that was civil, interesting, and even scientific. Perhaps if the thread was found it could serve as a model fo anomolistic discussions. My 2 cents.
