Fell into a trap of my own making.
When I accused Derek of bigotry (which I still honestly beleive) I made the mistake of allowing an out.
Now the focus can be deferred to the "hand-waving" rather than addressing in a logical or even vaguely scientific way any of the points I made - either the gay marriage points, or the rational discussion points.
Must do better, especially since I have tried to get others off that track in the past.
Slap on my own wrist.

*Used in the British context as an alternative swear word......
