That's the reliable thing about the left in general, namely when presented with issues and points they can wash it all away in a namecalling gesture.
Bush is a chimp!
Ashcroft is a Nazi!
Rumsfeld is a war mongerer!
SDAI-Tech1 is a "fucking idiot."
It's tough. I know. A hand wave is better than nothing at all. But as Davin or Odin might say that a high schooler could debate better. In this instance, they'd probably be right.
Arguing against science is a tough sell. It is much better to just say I am somehow unscientific and leave it at that. The left is not used to being confronted by my arguments, because most on the right do not address things in terms of science. They base their morals on things that can be hand waved away - like religion. It's easy for a leftist to say FO to a religionist and still feel morally superior and enlightened. Confronting scientists is not in the leftist's literature and repertoire. They feel they must somehow still be right and they can't face the possibility their worldview needs an overhaul.
In your world homosexuals can reproduce successfully, are perfectly normal and are ideal parents. Got it.
As for me being a bigot:
That's a nice label and everyone on the left tries to shove it on me when they don't like the facts I present. Mary Anne has, Fox has and now you have. (Perhaps some other folks have and I have forgotten they can add themselves to the list in spirit) Using discernment and intelligence does not equal bigotry. Pointing out facts does not equal bigotry. A person who chooses not to smoke and points out smoking is unhealthy is not automatically a bigot who hates smokers. Your logic is flawed. Recognizing something for what it is does not mean one does not have compassion for those who do not recognize it.
Pity does not equal bigotry. And I don't pity homosexuals. Pity is not constructive. It seldom accomplishes any good. Compassion and understanding are much better.
It's interesting to me to see what sets people off. MA got all riled the first time I made an offhand joke about someones behavior as mentally ill. Years later I found out why. Everyone has their own issues and difficulties and often my analysis is unsettling at best.
Scientific truth is the ultimate truth. All the rest is just window dressing. The mirror principle, personal responsibility for all that happens to one - all these things are hated by folks who don't want to see these ultimate truths. Personal conflicts and actions are much better not looked at closely lest it tell one something about oneself one may find unappealing. The left has embraced the "victim" mythology and everyone on the left is a victim. Lindy is a victim of Bush, homosexuals are the victim of a gene, MA is a victim of repressive SUV driving conservatives, SM is a victim of capitalist corporate malfeasance, Bowser is the victim of Nixon, Johnson and the dogcatcher and you are now the victim of my offensive rhetoric. United in victimhood! Hoorah!
Identifying self-destructive acts will never be popular. It's much easier to live in a feel-good delusion and support everyone and everything unconditionally - except of course conservatives and those who threaten to shatter the delusion. The left are the masters of this moral vacuity.
And no, contrary to popular belief, I am not bigoted towards the left either. Many of my relatives and co-workers are leftists and socialists and they often provide a compelling argument for the left viewpoint. They're still wrong though ;-)
