Thanks

Lois taught chemistry.

She taught it in such a way that kids were disappointed when they couldn't get into her class. They learned it, and it was fun. Her class celebrated Mole Day: facsimiles of little furry sharp-nosed dim-eyed animals everywhere.

She was kind and loud and boisterous and generous.

Her husband is quieter than she is. He's part of the group that spent two months of their spare time building a huge railroad layout in the library's larger meeting room, with which they raised $1,000 for us.

The girls were involved in everything. Two of them volunteered for me while they were in middle school. They've known my crew since they were all in nursery school together.

The school gave liberal leave to all the students on the day of the funeral. She really was all that.
