This just in from SOHH.com:
Eminem - Total Net: $28.9 Million
And he's just one guy in the world of hip-hop.
Eminem is one of the best at the artform of his choice, but I doubt he's to your taste. (He's not to mine, though he has made me laugh once in a while. He has wit, though his taste is questionable.) While the ability to make money can be considered an art unto itself, it's not necessarily a hallmark of great art.
If you're going to judge greatness by earnings, please remember that Mozart died in debt, John O'Hara died broke, Vincent Van Gogh died penniless and insane, and Shakespeare's estate amounted to several hundred pounds, a residence with furnishings, and some personal belongings.
Genius pays in immortality, not always in box office.
If liberals thought that Gibson's movie was great, would you be against it, Tom? ;)
