Wrong: I am NOT accusing you of that. Here is my 'declaration of principle' -

Firstly: I am NOT trying to silence you. I am trying to EXPOSE you.

The allegation, which I supported and developed, was that you are pushing an anti-Israeli agenda. Now, that's not the same thing as being anti-semitic .. at least, not in principle. You have said nothing here which sounded anti-semitic to me.

I realize now that I have to make something very clear: to my mind, you or anyone else, has every right to be as anti-Israeli as you please, and to post and vocalize such sentiments. Personally, I sometimes well understand and sympathize with such sentiments, although I increasingly believe they are the result of being misinformed by biased and untruthful media. However, even if I were to be outraged by such sentiments, that would be irrelevant to your right to promote and post such beliefs. My right would then be (if I wished) to debate or fight you out in the open ring, as is the democratic way.

So please also understand that I don't wish to silence you, or slander you. In fact, I am sorry and apologise for calling you names. However, what is totally outrageous here is that you are obviously disguising and cloaking your sentiments as a completely bizarre and unfounded imputation that Ramon - OR ANY OTHER ASTRONAUT - could be responsible for the loss of Columbia. That implication - which you 'support' with the mention of FINGERPRINTS and a previous bail-out from a fighter jet - is so weird and so unfounded, that it REEKS of secret agenda, and thus deserves to be called conspiracist, anomalist, and nasty.

In your latest post, you completely contradict your original post. Now, you are saying:

The Columbia disaster was not Ramon's fault, nor was the situation which NASA put Ramon in. As far as Columbia goes, I don't think I've seen such a staggering case of complete institutional incompetence in a long, long time.

but in your original post, you said:
This urgently needs to be fingerprinted, to see if anyone opened it - specifically, Ramon.

- Sounds like a backdown to me; however, my concern is that it is a backdown for the wrong reasons. I'm concerned that you might be reacting to highly-charged suggestions of anti-semitism. I for one do NOT want to cow anyone into submission by using any form of political correctness. In fact, I don't want to force anyone into submission over anything at all (- except I guess, terrorists of course ..). For me, this is all about a matter of principle, and NOT political correctness.

I wonder how many people here understand this: it is not your sentiments or beliefs which offend me, but that you tried to disguise them as some sort of 'real' discussion about what happened to Columbia. And that you used a disaster to push your secret agenda. And that you would slander an astronaut - ANY astronaut - to push your agenda. And that you would use the Space Board - the best part of Habitablezone - to do so.

Maybe this final point will help clarify further: I felt the same outrage to your post as I did when I read Jerry Linenger's account of how a Russian cosmonaut was blamed by Russian ground control for a botched remote-control docking with Mir, which he had no chance of doing successfully. I am outraged by injustice generally, and in your case by the slandering of an astronaut and your using a disaster to push anomalism.

I hope this clarifies my position for you, and for anyone else here who may have misinterpreted my response as little more than some sort of tribal self-defence.

Daniel
