Space/Science — HabitableZone

Space/Science » in reply to Wrong: I am NOT accusing you of that. Here is my 'declaration of principle' -

Thank you for your apology -

I take some comfort in your apology - but at the same time I am sorrowied by your accusing me of having an anti-Israeli agenda.

I differ with you on the best course for assuring Israel's survival, but that belongs on Current Events, not here.

You are focused on Ramon - but you fail to notice that I said "ANY ASTRONAUT". It could have been the other person on the lower deck opened the hatch - or THE CREW CABIN MAY NOT EVEN HAVE SURVIVED TO THAT POINT.

No one knows with certainty, and that's why the hatch is so important.

When I originally wrote on this, I mentioned that if the re-entry profile had of been changed, perhaps the crew compartment would have survived to the point where bailout would have been possible.

I recieved abuse here at the uninHabitable Zone, and nothing but abuse for this observation.

In the end, the CAIB recommended that other re-entry profiles be examined, and NASA is doing that now.

The fundamental problem, in regards to the Columbia disaster, as I see it, is one of DENIAL, and that every person here expresses that in a different way, unique to their own minds.

Going through this again and again is painful for me. My hope is that you would join with me in calling for the installation of system independent bailout indictors on the shuttle hatches, which are needed for both ascent and descent by ALL ASTRONAUTS.
