re: re:Have you ever read the beginning of the Bible and

That is sort of how I see it.

The Bible talks about in the beginning the Earth is without form. That sounds to me like when what is now the Earth was still part of the solar nebula. Or it could even be when the matter that makes up the Earth (sub atomic particles) was part of the Big Bang.

In the beginning, the Earth was without form. I am not sure how the ancients could understand or comprehend this. To them, the Earth was a flat solid object. Yet the Bible got it right. The Earth had no form when it was part of the solar nebula.

And then the whole “Let there be light” sequence. Either that was the Sun coming to light, or the Big Bang. Once the Sun fired up, its energy blew away the remaining solar nebula, causing the heavens to be viewable from the Earth- I believe this is mentioned in the Bible as well.

As far as the creation of man goes, the Bible just says that God created man from dust. We are star dust, as Carl Sagan was so fond of pointing out. The Bible does not say, how that dust became us (the process) or how long it took. I believe the process he used was Evolution, and this does not contradict the Bible.

One thing people on both sides of the debate get caught up on it the 6 days Genesis talks about. Many of us Christians scientist do not believe these are literal 24 hour days. We believe they are creation periods that may last millions or even billions of years.

This is the kind of stuff that could be discussed in school. It could bridge the gap between Creationist and Evolutionist.
