science is a religion, Gary
No it is not. See these definitions for the differences:
sci·ence ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sns) n
1. The observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena.
2. Such activities restricted to a class of natural phenomena.
3. Such activities applied to an object of inquiry or study.
re·li·gion ( P ) Pronunciation Key (r-ljn) n.
1. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
2. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
Science posits that existence is structured in such a way that it can be labeled, and that those labels can be used to manipulate existence for mankind's benefit.
It does NO such thing. See definition avove.
Further, it posits that those labels are extensible.
Labels are NOT what Science is about.
These are acts of faith, not reason.
Nonsense. These are generalizations based upon experience.
There is no reason to posit apriori that scientific research will yield results, or that the results will be good for people, other than that it has worked the way in the past.
That is the ONLY way sane beings think. If you believe that the future will not resemble the past (in terms of Natural Law), you are nsane.
