"Perhaps it isn't as clearcut an answer as the AOL News article implied. Somewhat disappointing from a traditional scientific point of view. However, when both sides of an issue can't be discussed, it isn't necessarily a good thing, IMO. "

Why is disappointing from a traditional scientific point of view?
Can I be sure that life started on Earth?
Can I rule out the possibility that an alien race didn't seed this solar system?

The original idea I was taught in elementary school has been proven wrong. The original idea was that there was billions of years for life to begin- and this long period of time made a very improbable event possible. We know now that is wrong.
We don't know how life began. If life began on Earth and we don't know how long it took. No one has ever created life, and obviously no one has created an alien life form. We can splice and dice it, but we can't create new life.
