...if some folks here own pit bulls or similarly narrow minded, bred for aggression type animals.
Gary has done us a favor by bringing the latent resentments to a head. The treason issue is a no-brainer. Personally, I was shocked at the reactions a throwaway line received. However, there seems to be this deep-seated fear of liberals to be rounded up and penned in camps in the middle of the night, or being put on a boat for Guantanomo, where after 20 years of prison they will merely hope for regular visits from the red cross.
This fear can be seen in the broad spectrum that covers Lindy's secret camps for dissenters to the outrage of Robert at Gary's 'preaching treason' line. Even Mary Anne's early fears about the Patriot Act fit in to this fear.
That rational people can have this fear is nonplussing to me. I can only lament how successful the left wing has been at frightening their own. Processes meant to expedite and avoid repeats of 9/11, have been turned into some grand scheme to rob Americans of their rights.
We have witnessed the far range of beliefs on the left from SPlinx's early postings about Bush letting 9/11 happen and that planes could've reached the hijackers in time to the only slightly less paranoid fears of Ashcroft visiting libraries and demanding to find out who regularly sits in the magazine section reading Mother Jones.
Again, who fueled these irrational fears? Who is exploiting the minds of the left for their own political agenda?
Once the left looks into who is using them and who is telling them the sky is falling, they will let go of these fears and see that they have been duped by a very narrow contingent of left-wing exploiters who use the left's innate paranoia to fund themselves.
Yes, the bottom line is liberals paranoia feeds money in certain directions. Can it be that simple? Is it all about money?
In a word...Yes.
The e-mail spammers and the far-left websites (and the far right ones for that matter) have the exact same finish line.

PS
Now before you react to any perceived holier-than-thou or pompous tone and feel a need to defend your paranoia...think twice. Try to understand, I'm not an enemy and I'm trying to set you free. I'm the guy who's just handed you the key to the cuffs you allowed to be put upon you by exploiters.
