There are some folks whose anti-US positions are beyond rhetoric or speech and they profess their support for insurgents and encourage folks who are in a position to hamper US forces or reveal US movements of troops. These folks behavior certainly qualify as treason and could be prosecuted as such under law.
Reporters have dressed up "treason" as "reporting" but have often included activities, numbers and routes of US forces with disastrous results. Proving such was intentional, however, is their last line of defense from treason. They'll claim ignorance and, because such ignorance is self-evident with most reporters, would likely be exonerated.
So this is where compassion comes in. Some folks that could press charges against groups or individuals fully understand that doing so would only increase incidence thereof and begin a new era of activism and media exploitation of same that would make the flames here look like the knitting club. Some folks keep pushing that line and would love to be seen as the first martyrs, crucified at the hands of that monster, Hitler, Satan worshipping, Freemason-loving George Bush.
We need no new leftist martyrs. It is much easier to let them indict themselves with their behavior and shine a light on it when necessary.
So I choose to interpret the many actions I witness, the articles I have read and sites I have seen on the internet solely as a matter of "freedom of speech".
Flame » in reply to Compassion has nothing to do with it.
