It's patently obvious to folks visiting a hardcore leftist website with the US flag burning or turned into a swastika, that you have a level of political activism that in an earlier time would qualify as treason.
The (Daily KOS) Moulitsas "screw them" attitude about contractors dying in Iraq is another one of those "comfort the enemy" comments that Kerry and the DNC had to disassociate themselves with in a hurry.
Such blatant disregard for US life killed by the enemy are fighting words for many.
Hate is the name of the game, Mark. When they get themselves all rallied up and exploited by any of these left wing vitriolic sites, they sort of admire the ones who speak out, even if they don't fully agree or if they agree but realize it crosses that invisible line that marks civilized protest with psychotic hatred.
So if you KNOW there are folks who you would even consider "traitors" on your side of the isle whose rhetoric you listen to and partially parrot - because you agree with some of what they are saying, you would be really nervous when someone starts whispering treason. You would want to stamp that stuff out ASAP.
;-)
PS
Fortunately, for many who toe this line, no one really gives a darn what some people think or say anymore. The US is a compassionate nation and prove this rhetoric wrong when they allow this type of dissent.
