No one is going to jail over acusations of treason and they will not stop anyone from speaking from conviction. It's that simple. There is no threat to freedom of speech or the rule of law. Are you defending the right to lie and mislead?
Democracy works best with an educated well informed public. People who lie to gain political power are a scourge on democracy. Those that truely believe bush lied about wmd have every right to be pissed about it. I believe he didn't lie and that many of those who say he did are lieing and I'm pissed about that. I'm even more pissed by people who tell lies that inflame muslim resentment of the US. People have to be free to lie to protect our freedom of speech. They don't have to be free from public scorn and accusations of treason to prevent them from lieing.
Regards,
Mark
