You should listen to yourself, Tom. Basically you're equating the US and Israel with al Qaeda--you expect the world to have the same reaction to our side knocking down a building as when al Qaeda does it (and let's not even get into your focus on property damage to the exclusion of the people killed).
We got sympathy after 9/11 because we'd been attacked by terrorists, and you'd expect no less than barbarity from terrorists. Of course the world reacts differently when our side commits a similar act. We're the ones who are supposed to represent a higher standard, remember?
The fundamental rot at the heart of the Winger approach to terrorism is the willingness, often enthusiasm, with which you abandon our principles and our values. It's disgusting how Wingers seem to be wallowing in the opportunity to relax our standards and behave as despicably as our enemies. Civilization won't stand long when when the self-proclaimed good guys use war as an excuse to take a holiday from civilization.
