Are morality and values really nothing more to you than rules? Rules written down somewhere, and once written, to be rewritten or erased when it's convenient? Aren't morality and values intrinsically worthy?
The more pompous among the RightWing demagogues like to portray it as an epic struggle between Western values and Islamic fanaticism. If that's the case, then don't you understand that we concede territory every time we abandon a value? What else are we fighting for?
