France and Europe via proxy humanitarian organization facades, corporate controlled media promote the conflict in the Middle East, promote anti-semitism, anti-Americanism and have been happy with the violent bloodfest because they could profit from it.
German architects designed Saddams multi-million dollar mansions, Russian contractors built Saddam's highways, French nuclear firms supply the parts to Iranian nuclear enterprises, French Telecom provides cell phone and communications services to the Middle East. French defense/electronics group Thales SA provided Iraq with weapons and violated French participation in the UN oil for food program.
France is corrupt as it gets. Their history is one of exploitation of Arab peoples - and they still do so to this day. They don't care about the amount of blood on the ground at the end of the day so long as the coffers show more Arab money in their bank accounts. That they can turn around and pretend they are humanitarian and interested in social reform, equality and concerne for Arab well-being is one of the world's sickest jokes.
Sure, we can look at US doling out contracts to US companies in Iraq - but this is only sane. When you realize that EU concerns wish for failure in Iraq, and would like to return things to the way it was - where the US had no marketshare at all in the region - why would would you let these corrupt companies come back in and mess things up in Iraq?
You can't trust the French. They are treacherous. That's not just supposition, but borne out by history. As I type these woulds they are stabbing the world in the back dealing with Iran and will have the unique privelige to be remembered as the one nation that helped bring about nuclear war in the Middle East. And why? For a few million blood soaked Euros! THe French ambassador sold out the UN with Kofi Annan's son (and I believe also Kofi Annan himself) for a few more Euros. The effete-Euro culture is extremely self-absorbed and makes US self-absorption appear quite moderate by comparison.
Cheney's oil firm acquaintances certainly tried to cash-in on the Iraq situation. That's the instinctive nature of corporations. I'm not a fan of US oil company practices and believe more regulation is needed to insure they don't violate antitrust and collusion laws. But it takes a much further leap of logic to believe they plotted it, or have for decades fanned the flames of violence in the Mideast as do the Euro corporate interests. So while the US oil companies are, in my opinion, very greedy and corrupt they have not illustrated, to me, the greed alongside an incomparable disregard for the welfare of the people living in the Mideast.
The methods of making a buck (or a Euro) are not always equal.
But it's nice of you to chime-in on this thread.

Proportionate difference of scale.
