re: You said:
I have seen many honest but inexpert witnesses mistake perfectly ordinary phenomena for UFOs. This leads me to believe that until I am convinced by further evidence, UFOs are either hoaxes, hallucinations, or misidentifications of ordinary objects.
I certainly do not discount the misidentifications of ordinary objects, there may be many of them and there may also be hoaxes, but I would not expect very many hallucinations from airplane pilots, airplane mechanics, police, and many other witnesses that hold responsible positions in society.

The reason the scientific community refuses to collaborate with your "research" is simple: half of you can't be trusted to tell the truth, and the rest of you can't recognize it when it's staring you in the face.
Which half do I belong in and why?

Until you can bring us the evidence we require, don't expect us to look at any of yours. And if you don't like our opinion of you, just remember you have brought it upon yourselves.
Could you clarify this statement.
The way I understand it is that, we can bring you any evidence that we like, (of UFO's) but you will not look at it anyway and if we do not like that, then we can only blame ourselves for it.
That is just one interpretation, another one is that we must construct such a ship and take you for a ride in it, then you might believe that saucer shaped aircraft can be constructed. In other words, drawings and explanations of the systems operation would not be enough to convince you that such devices can be built
