This post was a lot more balanced and sensible than the one I picked apart, which was full of hostility and denial. I can understand how most people who have not encountered the ufo phenomena would be highly skeptical it evens exists. And this post outlines step by step your concerns.
To some degree, ufology is similiar to religion. It's based on a belief, and often that belief is chosen, often by a personal sighting or the experiencing of a miracle through prayer. And the agnostics, (like the ufo non-believers) will never see eye to eye with the believers.
Some "sightings" include time distortions and electrical failures. Science has yet to fully explain the nature of time and space. What they haven't explained, including time/space distortions in anti-gravitic or electromagnetic disturbances, could very well be the portal these unusual objects or sightings travel in on. There are too many unknowns to claim they don't exist just because we can't explain them yet.
They are not called MFO's (mis-identified flying objects), but UFO's (unidentified flying objects). Even the Air Force's Project Blue Book couldn't identify them all.
>"From 1947 to 1969, the Air Force investigated Unidentified Flying Objects under Project Blue Book. Of a total of 12,618 sightings reported to Project Blue Book, 701 remained "unidentified."
Do the math.
