"we are all just visiting here"

>"and that in the end it's all a little private joke we share with no one but ourselves."

I suppose this thought helps when in a crisis.
But if that's ALL you thought, you could find yourself completely useless and unable to move on. If you have aspirations of greatness, it might make you sit home and turn on the TV instead instead of accomplishing your goals, your dreams, your inventions.

Your description of the highschool band struggling with the classical piece was moving. I have been there several times in my life when you feel at one with The ALL, and for a moment you are so very much ALIVE.
But how do we maintain that? Is "spirituality" an actual practise in search of those moments?

What you so eloquently express sometimes comes out a bone dry experience in the end.
It seems you are trying to look deeper and find nothing there.
I'll have to think on this some more, for it was at that very same point in life I arrived at, that started me on a spiritual path, in search of myself, and what I have found has been very rewarding.

This thread is pretty heady stuff. I never thought about what "it" might be, or how we define it, let alone how we all see it.
