The attitude you take pride in as 'refined' or 'sophisticated' is really just years of practice compensating for situations in which you lack the knowledge to fully understand. You smooth it over. And you seek the comfort of others like yourself. Congratulations. I spent years and years studying, acquiring the knowledge to understand why religion is bunk. I don't understand everything about science and engineering, or even a fraction of what is available to learn, but at least I tried. I say 'bunk' when I see 'bunk', and why.
