Now, I'm trained to spot these details in a matter of moments and I know most folks will gloss them over when visiting their site because they want you to gloss over them; they limited the color spectrum just for the 'gloss over' effect. But this one is pretty much the most politically correct, left wing -ss-kissing communistic artwork I've seen in the corporate sector since Mao died.

Quick list:

Green, Brown & Blue colors - environmentally friendly! (Oooh... Earth colors!)
UPS employees planting a tree!
UPS employees working (or can only afford?) the soup kitchen!
UPS employee riding a bicycle! (Mao is smiling! But...um... where do the bashed up packages go?)
UPS employees (cooking their books?)
UPS fruit pan?
Orientals, Blacks and bald folks naturally are prominently featured!

Now I understand. Some thirty-something in charge of web site development was told to make sure the site is politically correct and should ideally assuage the feelings of any rabid leftists throughout the world who visit the site once a year to check on the delivery of their (recreational/prescription) drugs. So he hires some graphic artist to produce a PC image the "conveys the spirit of UPS global service" or some such feel-good nonsensical phrase the twenty-something kid in market research department has told them they need to have to make visitors to their site comfortable. The hired site programmers stick the image in there because they do what they are told and they want to keep this high paying gig - and some of them (cough) may actually like it. The rest was just a slow motion crash in full view of millions of customers.

If truth in advertising prevailed, the image should show a kid 18-24 racing around the neighborhood in a truck with god-awful squeaking brakes, stressed out, double parked and carrying a package looking for the easiest place for him to dump it and return to his truck. The montage could show a traffic accident or two in his wake and a bashed up box or two shoved next to a doorstep.

Message to UPS: we capitalists who use your services don't buy into such PC communistic appeals and have not had our Mao sponsored book burning - so shape up, before we turn to DHS or FEDEX.
