Just as I first thought that deBrecht's books were a hoax perpetrated to embarrass Republicans, I had a similar reaction to "Why Mommy is a Democrat"--both are over the top, and both seem to caricature their "side" by implication as much as the visible target. Creepy on multiple levels...
...including the whole idea of targeting propaganda against children. It's one of those ancient and pernicious tactics that keeps coming around, though, so we shouldn't be suprised to see partisans (religious as well as political) resort to it.
