There appear to be two different artists at work on the right-wing propaganda, the pictures of Hillary and Ted seem relatively neutral, not even particualraly threatening or offensive. However, the movie star caricatures appear to me to be done in the same exaggerated and sinister style as Nazi depictions of Jews, showing the same stereotype facial features. I admit, it's subtle and I didn't notice it at first. I had to take the day off to go to a conference, but I've been mulling over this thread all day and it occured to me this was the case while I was on the road.
Maybe I'm reading more into it than is there, but that comparison has haunted me all day and I couldn't wait to come back and comment on it. I make no blanket accusations of Anti-Semitism against conservatives in general here, after all, there are certainly numerous right wing Jews. But perhaps there is a deeper level of propaganda here, one that may not even be noticeable to most readers, and which goes further than politics and into downright racism.
The left-wing kidprop is even worse, because there is no hint of what is going on in the art alone, a non-English reader would not even guess there was any political, satirical or partisan content at all. This makes the material even more offensive, because it is wrapped up in reassuring and bland images. It's not a bomb, it's a booby trap.
I'm going to be checking out the icecubes myself, very carefully. I need to pour myself a stiff one.
