I'll take Robert Munsch, thanks.
I used to read my kids loads of books, and read to them at night long after they could read themselves. Greatest achievement: "Lord of the Rings," read over many weeks.
Books should be fun, and exciting, and interesting, and parents using all their reading time to drive too many "lessons" into little heads should have banana cream pies flung in their sour faces. Extra pies should be reserved for parents who try to "politicize" their kids at an early age.
Children learn most of their moral and behavioral lessons the way children always have: by watching you. I tried to remember this over the past 20 years.
