Bowser is, from what I have read, a recovered alcoholic. Making cracks in this area falls way below the belt in my personal opinion. Same for anyone else with deep and real personal problems.
If Tony is also in that category (I have no idea if he is) that just compounds it. I might be a bit sensitive in this area since I had a close relative struggling with this problem. She beat it at the end, and gave my family some good years, but the aftereffects still killed her eventually.
