Hear, hear!

I agree with you wholeheartedly on this one.

But I will add another factor that I believe is the key one, even over and above the obvious fact that school administration has become a haven for worthless drones who can't teach and who are more interested in promoting their own careers by following a no-risk strategy to avoid litigation than to actually make the hard choices needed to adjust to new social conditions.

In my opinion, the biggest problem with the schools today is a breakdown in discipline, and this can be traced directly to the parents, not the kids, and certainly not the staff. My parents would have never backed me up in a dispute against a teacher, or protested against discipline, or allowed me to get away with it if they found out about it.

If I had problems at school, their default reaction was "it's your fault, straighten up or else", they did not go rushing to the school to terrorize the teacher and administration until they caved in and let their little hoodlum get away with murder. This has nothing to do with income, race, social class or any other factor. It seems widespread across the society. In MY day (man, does that make me feel old saying that!) If I had trouble in school with discipline or a teacher, my parents always assumed I was to blame. They didn't even bother going to school to find out.

Until we re-establish the means of disciplining or if necessary, ejecting troublemakers from the classroom, things will just get worse. Even my Marxist cousin agrees with this.
