Actually...

I've gone into this in other posts in great detail.

Personally, I wouldn't kill someone to save my own life, I would try to immobilize them without killing, and yet I understand that at this time and place armies and police forces are needed to keep society progressing. Some day they will be obsolete or mostly obsolete.

It's a fine line. I'm not afraid of dying. I've died many times and I know exactly where I am going after I die in this life. I even have a good idea when I will die, as this is already visible from these FTL planes. As a matter of fact, I visit these planes regularly during my sleep and awaken refreshed and ready to work out more of my pasts.

I hold myself to a different standard of action than the rest of the world, because each individual has to come to these awarenesses on his/her own. In a more ideal world our military could immobilize enemies without having to kill them. In a more ideal world the death penalty would be phased out and better designs for lifelong incarceration facilities for the criminally insane be implemented.

But this is nowhere near an ideal world and if the lower forces are allowed to wreak havoc unchecked, sustained progress in both physical and moral avenues will never occur. So the "ultra pure goodness" is often unsuited to this level in any major manner. Each level requires it's own level and form of "goodness" to achieve balance.

So there does exist this dichotomy. I may personally abhor violence and yet realize it is necessary tool for development on this world. Many folks who reach this level of understanding want to force it on others. Only later still do they realize such is totally counter-productive and robs individuals of valuable learning lessons.

When one does realize the universe is infinite, one realizes that it is ridiculous to try align people's consciousness into clones of one's own ideosophy. That's becoming an agent of destruction from an infinite sense. Conformity, laws, are still elemental tools used to keep order amongst naturally violent people. Once they evolve away from violence then the laws, groups and rules fall by the wayside, replaced by individual and personal responsibility.

Morality is an ever evolving proposition.
